Service Award


HENRY W. SCHIRMER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

PURPOSE

Its purpose is to recognize an individual member who has performed most distinguished leadership and service to AIA Kansas and/or AIA over an extended period of time, such services exceeding those expected in any official capacity, and by leadership, has advanced the cause of our profession and provided an inspiration to his/her fellow practitioners.

CRITERIA

1. The Henry W. Schirmer Distinguished Service Award (HWSDSA) recipient should be a past or present member of AIA Kansas. Recipient of the award can be living or deceased.

2. The award is to be given to a member of AIA Kansas for distinguished service to the profession of architecture and AIA Kansas and/or AIA over an extended period of time.

3. Candidates may not currently serve on the AIA Kansas Executive Committee or Board of Directors at the time of their nomination.

4. Nominations can be made by any AIA Kansas member, however, a member is not allowed to nominate someone from his/her own firm, company or educational institution.

PROCEDURES FOR NOMINATION, VOTING & AWARD

 

1. The AIA Kansas Executive Director shall receive the nominations no later than August 31 of any given year.

2. The HWSDSA shall be awarded by affirmative vote by secret ballot of the majority of the voting members of the AIA Kansas Board of Directors who are present at the designated meeting.

3. The HWSDSA recipient shall be honored at the annual AIA Kansas Awards Ceremony.

NOMINATION SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Nominations must be confidential - do not notify the nominee of the nomination. Nominations shall be submitted in an 8.5" x 11" format on white paper with black print. The maximum number of pages is three (3) with margin minimums of 1" all around and minimum type size of 12.  The following information must be included:

1. Name of Nominee; initial date of AIA membership.

2. Name, Firm, Address, Telephone, Email of Sponsor.

3. Nominee's mailing address/

4. Nominee's firm/company/university name and address.

5. Nominee is registered or licensed to practice architecture in the States of:

6. Nominee is engaged in the profession of architecture as.

7. Nominee's date and place of birth.

8. Nominee's education: High School, College, University, Post Graduate, etc. in chronological order including: Location, No. Years, Year of Graduation, Degree.

9. Nominee's professional experience.

10. Describe the Nominee's distinguished contributions to the profession of architecture through service to AIA Kansas and/or the American Institute of Architects, giving consideration to his/her lasting influence on the profession, his/her leadership role, and/or service to the state or community.

11. Describe other qualities and accomplishments of the Nominee.

The submittal must be signed and dated by the sponsor.
