About the Event
Site design frequently involves civil engineering for aspects such as paving, grading, stormwater management, water distribution for domestic services and fire protection, and sanitary/waste collection. The presentation will provide a brief overview of common site design elements related to civil engineering and the collaboration that occurs among the architectural, landscape, facilities engineering, and field services design teams. Objectives
- Develop a broad understanding of the civil engineering discipline and areas of practice.
- Site design life cycle – when to engage a civil engineer.
- Inter-discipline coordination – understanding common coordination items between survey, geotechnical, environmental, architectural, landscape architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural project components.
- Permitting and AHJs – a brief review of common site permitting and jurisdictional impacts to project development.
